Thoughts while shaving for October 19 – BladenOnline

Bladenboro Class of ’56 getting ready, planning a class reunion… Details soon… I thought of when we entered school in Bladenboro. One of our first grade teachers was Miss Knott, a spinster, strict, fair…I wanted the class to take a nap after lunch…using newspapers spread out on an oil-based floor…Not my thing …didn’t take a nap at home and not much interest in first grade…Miss Knott prevailed…in my case…

Bladenboro Class of ’56 will have a date on Thursday, November 10 at 1 p.m…. More to come… About 100 started the high school adventure in 1952… about 50 graduated in ’56, and now until at 20 or 30…

One of the best songs of the time was “Straighten Up and Fly Right”, I don’t remember… Dean Martin and several others recorded… “Baby, It’s Cold Outside”. Very appropriate for today…and I remember…

It’s cold outside this morning… 39 degrees at 5 am

Fog in the forecast early today, then sunny with highs near 62 and windy with gusts up to 15 mph. Scattered frost this evening, otherwise clear, with lows around 38. Thursday, areas of early frost, then sunny with highs near 67. Highs in the 70s later this week.

The NY Yankees beat Cleveland last night, winning the best of 5 series, 3-2, and advancing to the MLB playoffs.

The stock market has posted substantial gains 2 days in a row… Ah yes, voting starts on Thursday… Hope you vote… Let your conscience be your guide…

Thoughts on Graduation…

“The unfortunate, but really exciting thing about your life is that there is no core curriculum. The whole place is a choice. Jon Stewart

“If you can find a path without obstacles, it probably leads nowhere.” Frank A. Clark

“Every year many, many stupid people graduate from college. And if they can do it, so can you. Jean Vert
