One cleaning enthusiast shared details of a cleaning hack involving shaving foam, and others were quick to call it “excellent” and “a revelation”.

They had already heard that shaving cream was an effective stain remover and so decided to try it on their sofa at home – and were “so impressed” with the results.

Before applying the cream, the chair looks dirty with a number of stains, but afterwards it is shiny and spotless.

Speaking to the Cleaning Tips and Tricks Facebook group, they shared photos of their couch before and after performing the shaving foam hack.

They wrote: “So impressed, thanks for the shaving foam recommendation!

“I first used a brush to break up the dirt, then I put shaving foam on it on a dry cloth. I admit that I left it on for over an hour because I got distracted, then I used a hot, damp cloth to wipe everything down (with a little nudge behind it) and voila! Chair like new!”

Other band members were also quick to note that the hack can also be used to clean rugs and carpets.

One member commented, “This is awesome and it’s great on carper. Red nail polish was spilled on a wool rug so I remembered seeing this trick and used it, the result was amazing, completely gone”.

“Wowza I’ve seen this hack on mats before but it’s amazing makes you think what it does to your legs etc lol,” another mused.

A third revealed: ‘Brilliant, this morning recently a lady recommended using white shaving foam to remove mascara from a cream mat – who would have thought?

“It works on carpets too,” echoed a fourth.
