Nobody likes to get up early splash some water on your face and shave quickly, only to have razor burn and a few nicks on your face before you’ve even had coffee. I’m sure I’m not the only one, but I’ve used a ton of razors and shaving creams trying to find one that works for me. After shaving one day, I woke up to find my neck red and itchy with irritation. It definitely wasn’t the razor cartridge because I’m diligent about changing them, so my next guess was the shaving cream (which won’t be named).
My first mistake was buying shaving foam. Although it had aloe as a key ingredient, it was fragrant, which is a no-no for my skin. After a few days I tried to fix it by moisturizing my face with healing products, but it was still red. I sent my wife some options of new shaving creams I was looking at, and she suggested I go with the vitamin E shaving cream from the skin care brand MALIN+GOETZ.
The ingredient of the same name definitely won me over. Vitamin E is known for its moisturizing and antioxidant properties, and this formula combines it with Shea Butter and Chamomile to hydrate and soothe skin while calming any irritation. The actual cream is super lightweight, so you’ll need a few pumps to get good coverage. The non-foaming formula helps protect your skin from any chafing or nicks while rinsing off without completely drying out your skin. Ideal for all skin types, it has a cooling effect that makes your face extremely clean and awake afterwards.
I get that $34 might be steep for shaving cream, but having a stress-free shave and clear skin is priceless, right? I thought it best to invest in a quality product so I could be proactive and not reactive to my irritated skin. Plus, since I only really shave once a month to give my skin a break, I get a bit more bang for my buck than if I used it two or three times a week. But still, if you’re like me and need a shaving cream that’s gentle on your skin that prevents razor burn, I don’t think you can find a better one at a better price.
